The two quickly became friends but one night, Tandy foolishly accepted an offer of shelter from some strange men who were testing an experimental drug for the Maggia. The drug awakened Tyrone's latent mutant ability to manipulate the Darkforce to his desires. Since then, Cloak has operated on the streets of New York as a vigilante alongside Dagger. Recently, the pair have relocated to San Francisco and are reservists in the West Coast Avengers.
