When Noh-Varr of the Kree Empire first crash-landed on the planet Earth, he initially attacked humanity, blaming them for the death of his fellow shipmates. He eventually chose to improve the world on his own terms. He was captured by SHIELD. Now, a little over a year afterwards, he has broken free from his restraint in the supervillain prison called the Cube. With five other criminals by his side, he began sowing the seeds to turn Earth into the capital of the new Kree Empire. |

NOH-VARR: A space explorer with the Kree Empire, Noh-Varr was stranded on Earth a little over a year ago when a scientist named Doctor Midas imprisoned him for his own gains. Breaking free and defeating Midas, Noh-Varr attempted to turn Earth into the paradise he believed the Kree Empire to be, aided by Midas' daughter, Oubliette. Noh-Varr was apprehended by SHIELD and imprisoned in the supervillain prison known as the Cube. Now, one year later, he has broken free, with designs to create a new Kree Empire. |

OUBLIETTE: Named after a medieval torture device, Oubliette was raised by her father, Doctor Midas, to be the perfect assassin. She had a slight scar on her face and her father always told her she was too disfigured for the world to look upon her, so she always had to wear a mask. After meeting Noh-Varr, she discovered her father was lying to her and rebelled against him, joining forces with the alien. Now, with her father gone, she has inherited the Midas Foundation and has contributed its resources to Noh-Varr's cause. |

DEATHBIRD: Her birth name stricken from record, Deathbird is the sister to Shi'ar Majestrix Lilandra. Having tried for years to usurp her sister's throne, she eventually made peace and became the empire's Viceroy. After being stranded in space with the X-Man Bishop, Deathbird eventually found herself on Earth. In the interest of staying with Bishop, she joined the X-Men. Once he left to lead X-Corps, Deathbird left the X-Men, feeling betrayed by the man she loved and abandoned by her sister. Now, with Noh-Varr making his move, Deathbird may be Earth's last hope. |

NICK FURY: A veteran of both World War II and the Vietnam War, Colonel Nick Fury was injected with the Infinity Serum, which has allowed his body to fend off the effects of aging. As the director of SHIELD, he is the head of the world's most powerful espionage agency. He has a long-standing relationship with many of Earth's heroes, especially the Avengers. Noh-Varr's escape happened on his watch and Noh-Varr's plans to take over the SHIELD space station, Ohmphalos, affects Fury personally. |

IMPERIAL GUARD: Protectors of the Shi'ar Imperium, the Imperial Guard contain many among their ranks and answer only to the Majestrix Lilandra, Lux Gloriana of the Shi'ar Imperium. After receiving a distress signal from Deathbird, Lilandra dispatches a selection of Superguardians to Earth to investigate. The ones she sends are Gladiator, Warstar, Smasher, Manta, Arc, Starbolt and Plutonia. |

RESERVE AVENGERS: With the active Avengers missing in action, Jarvis and Fury send out a message to reserve members, calling them back to active duty. One such squad forms in New York to pick up the slack against the rampage of the supervillain community. Led by Thor, this team of interim Avengers consists of Stingray, Photon, Justice, Firestar and Tigra. |

MUTANT UNDERGROUND: An organization founded by Professor Charles Xavier, the Mutant Underground is a network composed of different cells of mutant operatives who work in secret to battle threats to mutantkind and act as a support group for other mutants who need it. One such cell consists of Panic, Switchback, Zero Down, Grey Goose and former X-Men, Gambit and Rogue. |

X-FACTOR: A government-sponsored organization, X-Factor has gone through numerous incarnations since its inception. The team battles threats to America, while acting under the auspicies of the United States government, specifically through Dr. Valerie Cooper, their mutant liason. The team is co-led by Polaris and Forge and consists of Shard, Red Lotus, Vargas and Ms. Witch. |

X-MEN: Following the death of Professor X, the creation of X-Corps and an attack by the Brotherhood of Mutants, the X-Men have reduced numbers, leaving them with a team of Domino, Colossus, Ever, Kwannon, Jubilee, Proteus and Neal Shaara. However, those numbers have recently been increased slightly with the sudden return of the presumed-dead Blink, Husk and M as well as the assistance of War Machine, Shang-Chi and Sunfire. |
