| Several months ago, Kang the Conqueror sensed a great threat on the horizon. To ensure the Avengers were prepared for this threat, Kang enlisted the aid of Loki, Norse God of Mischief, to test the team. Captain Marvel aided the Avengers in defeating the pair, and before he vanished, Kang warned Genis that a great threat was on the horizon. Another sensed this threat as well—the Latverian dictator called Doctor Doom. In an attempt to circumvent this threat, Doom acquired both Captain Marvel and Franklin Richards in his own nefarious scheme. Meanwhile, the United States of America, fearing the power possessed by the Avengers, declared war on the superheroes. Their initial attack forced the Avengers to run and now, Colonel Nick Fury and SHIELD have no option but to convince the Fantastic Four to hunt down their friends. All of this, however, was carefully orchestrated by Johann Schmidt, the Red Skull, in a mad bid to toy with Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Doom. When Doom was on the cusp of victory, the Red Skull appeared, stealing Doom's newfound power for himself. That combined with the incredible might of the Cosmic Cube gave the Red Skull the ability to transform the world into one based on his own twisted vision. |

Surviving into the present day, the Skull has now begun his ultimate plot, using a Cosmic Cube and powers stolen from Doom to warp reality into his own twisted vision. |
