Conceived
by Professor Charles Xavier, the X-Men was a government-sanctioned
strike force operating under the auspicies of SHIELD, designed to
eliminate mutant terrorists. However, due to the manipulations of the
Shadow King, the X-Men were forced to go rogue where they temporarily
allied themselves with Magneto. After discovering Magneto posed a
massive threat to humans, the X-Men left again, going on the run and
trying to survive by taking refuge in the Morlock Tunnels in England.
After being pursued by a post-human strike force called the Avengers,
the tables turned when a creature called Onslaught appeared, created
from the genetic material of Professor X and Magneto. The X-Men and
Avengers fought against the creature and eventually were able to
destroy it, but it came at a cost. The X-Men were dead. ...or were they? |
